How to Get your own Domain from GoDaddy

Step by step (what you need to get by).

1. Go to GoDaddy.com http://godaddy.com

2. Click the dropdown box to select .info and type in a domain name (suchandsuch.info) then click "Go" to see if the .INFO domain you want is already taken. I tried salvia.info first ...

3. Ooops! That one has been taken already (Gomer Pyle exclaims "Surprise, surprise, surprise!")

4. Try a different domain then. seamac.info maybe?

5. You'll see a warning that the pages you are about to View are encrypted: It's safe to buy online securely:

6. What do you know? SEAMAC.INFO is available! I'll put $1.21 up for it for this year and (probably) renew it in a year at $10 ...

7. Just Click "Continue"

8. Now GoDaddy wants to Build up the Bill: just click on "No thanks. Continue to checkout."

9. Here comes the 2nd most important part: You need to REGISTER a NEW GoDaddy Account.

Privacy considerations: it is Important to use a PO Box (if you have one) for the Address, and use a Voicemail or work/message phone number instead of your Mobile or Home number.

The Information you enter here will be a matter of public record anyone can look up if they have your domain name! (whois) UNLESS you opt for private registration (a very expensive annual option!)

10. Registration and Checkout Options Page:

Under Domain Registration Preferences set the Registration Length to 1 Year. You can renew at $10 a year annually if you wish.

Switch to manual renewal under "Auto-Renew Protection" if you do not want them to auto-bill your account (Credit Card or Pay-Pal Account) each year.

Then Select 3. Select Checkout Preference: Quick Checkout. Then click Continue.

(They make scary noises about people doing bad things with your public data IF you don't sign up for private registration. You can always add it later ... sleep on it if you wish.)

11. Now the Important Part: how do you want to Pay us?

12. Here's your chance to get 2 years for $10 (Making the first year free). The catch is: you must renew your registration 2 years at a time ever after that. Instead of forking over $10 yearly each year (after your 99 cent year is up) for renewal, you would fork over $20 for 2 more years (at the end of the first 2 year stint) and $20 more every 2 years after that.

Click Checkout Now

13. When you click this button it's a done deal: You are a Domain Holder!

14. Thank you! Write these Numbers down ...

15. Click on the Back to My Account link:

You see the My Account Page ...

(Your Domain is registered now and GoDaddy will set it up for you: you'll get an Email when your Domain is good to go. Remember to Login to your GoDaddy Customer Account with the Customer Number you got and your Password for any further steps.)
